In nonequivariant algebraic topology, a fundamental tool to study singular homology is the abelianization functor from topological spaces to topological abelian groups. In this paper, the authors construct a functor which plays the role of the abelianization functor in the context of stable equivariant algebraic topology over a finite group \(G\). For a \(G\)-space \(X\) and a Mackey functor \(M\), a topological Mackey functor is constructed. It is called the stable equivariant abelianization of \(X\) with coefficients in \(M\). For \(X\) a based CW-complex, the topological Mackey functor is an infinite loop space in the sense of \(G\)-spaces. As an application of the stable equivariant abelianization functor, a version of the RO(G)-graded equivariant Dold-Thom theorem is given. Applying a variant of Elmendorf's construction, a model for the equivariant Eilenberg-MacLane spectrum \(HM\) is obtained. For the proof the authors use the structure theorem for Mackey functors.
