The authors prove a generalization of the classical fact that the Fourier transform on \(\mathbb{R}^n\) is a topological isomorphism of the Schwartz space \(S(\mathbb{R}^n)\) onto itself. Let \(H_n\) be the \((2n+1)\)-dimensional Heisenberg group and \(K\) a compact group of automorphisms of \(H_n\) such that the convolution algebra \(L^1_K(H_n)\) of \(K\)-invariant functions on \(H_n\) is Abelian, i.e. such that \((K\times H_n, K)\) is a Gelfand pair. The authors prove that the Gelfand transform is a topological isomorphism between the space of \(K\)-invariant Schwartz functions on \(H_n\) and the space of Schwartz functions on a closed subset of \(\mathbb{R}^s\) homeomorphic to the Gelfand spectrum of \(L^1_K(H_n)\).
