The paper is a survey of several results on stability of the equilibria of analytic (in the neighborhood of equilibria) Hamiltonian systems with \(n\) degrees of freedom. The paper starts with definitions on stability of the linear truncation, including resonance, both in periodic and autonomous cases. Next, the Gustavson canonical form is considered for autonomous and periodic cases. The paper continues with some basic stability results for equilibria in the cases of one degree of freedom, two degrees of freedom, and \(n\) degrees of freedom. Again there are considered the periodic and autonomous cases, resonance and degenerate systems applications. As an example, the circular restricted three body problem is discussed - equilibria, linear and nonlinear stability, resonances (where it is proved, among other, that there are no resonances of order four). The paper ends with an Appendix with useful (for the economy of the paper) results.
