Let \(A\) be a complex commutative algebra without order and \(L(A)\) be the algebra of all linear mappings on \(A\). Given \(\lambda_0, \dots, \lambda_n \in \mathbb{C}\), \(a\in A\), \(T \in L(A)\), the authors ask whether there exist \(\lambda, \alpha_1, \dots, \alpha_n \in \mathbb{C}\) such that \(\sum_{k=0}^n\lambda_ka^kT^k=\lambda(aT -\alpha_1 I) \dots (aT - \alpha_n I)\). The pair \((a, T)\) is said to have the Cauchy-Euler type factorization property if \(\sum_{k=0}^n\lambda_ka^kT^k\) is factorized in the above sense for each \(\lambda_0, \dots, \lambda_n \in \mathbb{C}\,\, (n = 2, 3, \dots)\). This notion is closely related to the Hyers-Ulam stability problem. In the paper under review, the authors give a characterization for the pair \((a, T)\) to have the Cauchy-Euler type factorization property. Several examples of linear mappings with such a property are given as well.
