The authors consider the large time existence of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations with external force and slip boundary conditions in a three-dimensional cylindrical domain. Under the smallness assumption of the \(L^2\) -norms of the derivatives of the initial velocity with respect to the variable along the axis of the cylindrical, the authors obtain the estimate for velocity in \(W_2^{2,1}\) without restriction on its magnitude, and then the existence follows from the Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem. The authors generalize results of \textit{W. M. Zajaczkowski} [Stud. Math. 169, No. 3, 243--285 (2005; Zbl 1099.35090)] by weakening its assumptions, and simply the proof in the reference [loc. cit.], where the existence of solutions is proved in Besov spaces. In addition, in order to obtain the existence of solutions, the Stokes problem in Besov spaces, and different imbeddings and interpolations in Besov spaces have to be considered and established in this paper, which are very complicated.
