The author considers operators on weighted sequence spaces with the supremum norm over a non-Archimedean field. On such a space, there is a natural bilinear form satisfying the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality (but, in contrast to the usual Hilbert spaces, not generating the norm). The main problem studied in the paper is as follows: given an unbounded operator defined by an infinite matrix in a space of the above type, is it possible to change the weight sequence so that the operator becomes bounded? The author gives conditions and examples both for the positive and the negative answers to this question. A similar problem regarding the existence of an adjoint operator is also considered.
