Given a Lagrangian fibration \(f:X\rightarrow B\) of a smooth symplectic manifold, mirror symmetry can be understood as a duality on the affine structure induced on the base, away from the discriminant locus. The reconstruction problem asks how to build a symplectic manifold from an affine integral manifold with singularities. \textit{M. Gross} [Invent. Math. 144, No.~1, 75--137 (2001; Zbl 1077.14052)] developed a topological construction; the authors extend the construction further and construct symplectic compactifications of \(T^3\) fibrations over the base. The discriminant locus is a trivalent graph over which lie generic, positive and negative fibers. Generic and positive fibers had already been studied by the first author in a previous paper [J. Symplectic Geom. 2, No.~3, 279--308 (2004; Zbl 1078.53086)]. In this paper, the authors focus on singular fibers and show how to construct a symplectic compactification by taking a local thickening of the discrimant locus. The paper is of interest to those studying mirror symmetry and is enriched with many examples.
