The paper deals with the boundary value problem to the equation \(u_{tt}-(\mu (t,x)u_x)_x+\lambda u_t+F(u)=0,\) where \(t\in (0,T), x\in (0,1)\) and Neumann type boundary conditions involve convolution elements. Under some conditions on the data the existence of the unique weak solution to the problem is proved. The proof is based on the Faedo-Galerkin method associated with the weak compactness method. Regularity, asymptotic expansion in \(\lambda \) and stability with respect to the data of the solution is treated.
