One considers a real-valued function \(E(V)\) defined on all bounded open sets of the real tri-dimensional space, and it is shown that, under very large mathematical conditions, which are physically meaningful, the limit (referred to as thermodynamic limit) \(E(V)/ \text{Volume}(V)\) exists as the volume of \(V\) increases to infinite. [Part II, cf. the authors, Adv. Math. 221, No.~2, 488--546 (2009; Zbl 1165.81042).]
