This paper is an overview of an approach in soliton theory -- the self consistent field method. It starts with a background and microscopic study of nuclear collective motions in parallel with the symmetry problem for evolution equations. The analysis starts with integrability conditions and collective submanifolds. The integrability conditions are discussed for the fermion systems of \(so(2N)\) Lie algebra \[ \bar{E}^{\alpha}_{\beta} = c^{\dag}_{\alpha}c_{\beta}-0.5\delta_{\alpha\beta}\;,\;\bar{E}_{\alpha\beta}= c_{\alpha}c_{\beta}\;,\;\bar{E}^{\alpha\beta}=c^{\dag}_{\alpha}c^{\dag}_{\beta} \] where the operators generate a Bogoliubov canonical transformation. The modification of the standard approach sends to the maximal decoupling approach whose validity is further discussed. Next there is considered the \(\tau\)-functional method on group manifolds, the bilinear differential equation in SCF method and the Laurent coefficients of soliton solutions. Another problem discussed is connected with the geometrical aspects in the infinite dimensional Fock space \(F_{\infty}\) and the construction of a formal RPA (Random Phase Approximation) equation. Finally the infinite dimensional Kac-Moody approach is applied to a simple model of \(N\) particles -- the Lipkin-Meshkov-Glick model. The paper is physics application oriented, the basic mathematical instrument is given in the appendices: coset variables, differential operators, affine Kac-Moody algebra, Schur polynomials, Hirata bilinear equation, commutators and 2-cocycles a.o.
