Let \(S\) be a closed set in \(\mathbb{R}\). A function \(f\) defined on \(\mathbb{R}\) is said to belong to the Bernstein space \(B_s\) if (i) \(f\) is continuous and bounded on \(\mathbb{R}\), (ii) \(f\) is the Fourier transform of a Schwartz distribution \(F\) supported by \(s\). The authors examine interpolation problems in Bernstein and Paley-Wiener spaces. A result for \(B_s\) is as follows: Theorem. Let \(S\) be a compact set and let \(\lambda= \{\lambda_j, j\in\mathbb{Z}\}\) be a uniformly discrete set. Suppose that for every \(j\in\mathbb{Z}\) there is a function \(f_j\in B_s\) such that \[ f_j(\lambda_k)= \begin{cases} 1,\quad & k=s,\\ 0,\quad & k\neq s\end{cases}\quad k\in\mathbb{Z} \] and \(\text{supp}_{j\in\mathbb{Z}}\| f_j\|_\infty<\infty\), then \(D^+(\lambda)\leq{1\over 2\pi}\text{mes\,}s\), where \[ D^+(\lambda)= \lim_{\ell\to\infty}\;\max_{a\in\mathbb{R}}\# {\lambda\cap(a,a+\ell)\over \ell}. \]
