    Let \(A\) be a \(C^*\)-algebra and \(L(H,K)\) denote the set of all adjointable operators from \(H\) to \(K\). Let \(H_i\,(i = 1, 2, 3)\) be three Hilbert \(A\) modules, \(A_1\in L(H_1,H_3)\) and \(A_2 \in L(H_2,H_3)\). For such two operators \(A_1\) and \(A_2\), a \(1 \times 2\) partitioned operator \(A = (A_1, A_2)\) can be induced by letting \(A(h_1,h_2)= A_1h_1 + A_2h_2\) for \(h_i \in H_i,\, i = 1, 2\). In this paper, the author derives several formulae for the Moore--Penrose inverse \(A^\dag\) of \(A\) and provides an approach to construct the weighted Moore--Penrose inverse from the non-weighted case, thus extending the main result of \textit{F.\,E.\thinspace Udwadia} and \textit{P.\,Phohomsiri} [J.~Optim.\ Theory Appl.\ 131, No.\,1, 1--16 (2006; Zbl 1115.15003)].
