The authors study the existence of local analytic solution for an iterative functional differential equation of the form \[ c_{1}x\left( z\right) +c_{2}x^{\prime }\left( z\right) +c_{3}x^{\prime \prime }\left( z\right) =x\left( az+bx^{\prime }\left( z\right) \right) ,\;z\in \mathbb{C}\tag{1.1} \] in complex domain, where \(c_{1},c_{2},c_{3},a\) and \(b\) are nonzero complex numbers. The analytic solution of (1.1) is obtained from \[ x\left( z\right) =x\left( z_{0}\right) +\frac{1}{b}\int\limits_{z_{0}}^{z} \left( y\left( s\right) -as\right) ds \] where \(z_{0}\) is a fixed point of \(y(z)\), and \[ y\left( z\right) =g\left( \theta g^{-1}\left( z\right) \right) \] where \(g\) is an invertible analytic solution of the auxiliary equation \[ \begin{matrix} c_{1}\left( g\left( \theta z\right) -ag\left( z\right) \right) g^{\prime }\left( z\right) +c_{2}\left( \theta g^{\prime }\left( \theta z\right) -ag^{\prime }\left( z\right) \right) + \\ +c_{3}\theta \frac{\theta g^{\prime \prime }\left( \theta z\right) g^{\prime }\left( z\right) -g^{\prime }\left( \theta z\right) g^{\prime \prime }\left( z\right) }{\left( g^{\prime }\left( z\right) \right) ^{2}}=\left( g\left( \theta ^{2}z\right) -ag\left( \theta z\right) \right) \theta g^{\prime }\left( \theta z\right) \end{matrix} \tag{1.7} \] with the initial conditions \[ g\left( 0\right) =\gamma ,\;\;g^{\prime }\left( 0\right) =\eta \neq 0. \] There are studied three cases for \(\theta \).
