The authors are concerned with the stability and bifurcation analysis of a ratio-dependent predator-prey model with time delay, which is due to the gestation of the predators. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, they investigate the local stability of a positive equilibrium and a semi-trivial equilibrium. Further, it is proved that the system undergoes a Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium. By applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction, explicit formulas are derived to determine the direction of bifurcations and the stability and other properties of bifurcating periodic solutions. By means of an iteration technique, sufficient conditions are obtained for the global attractiveness of the positive equilibrium. By comparison arguments, the global stability of the semi-trivial equilibrium is also addressed. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate the main results.
