For \(f\in L^1(\mathbb{R}^d)\), using periodization, one can define an associated periodic function \(f^{per}\) by \(f^{per}(t)=\sum_{k\in \mathbb{Z}^d} f(t+k)\). The main topic of the paper is to study and construct periodic wavelet frames derived from wavelet frames on the real line, which are constructed via various extension principles, via the periodization technique. More precisely, the authors show in Theorem 3.1 that for any given tight wavelet frames on the real line that are obtained via the unitary extension principle from refinable functions, as long as the wavelet generators have the following decay property: \(\psi(t)=O((1+|t|)^{-(1+\varepsilon)d})\) for some \(\varepsilon>0\), then the system after periodization always forms a periodic tight frame for \(L^2([0,1]^d)\). A similar result for dual wavelet frames is also given in Theorem 3.2. This paper provides a simple and interesting way of constructing periodic wavelet frames.
