The purpose of the paper is to derive specific stability bounds for certain classical linear interpolatory multiresolution algorithms within \textit{A. Harten}'s general framework [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 33, No. 3, 1205--1256 (1996; Zbl 0861.65130)] which are based on piecewise polynomial centered Lagrange interpolation. First, the authors rewrite the linear prediction operator based on piecewise polynomial centered Lagrange interpolation in a convenient way for their forthcoming study. Next, the stability issues is studied and other possible approaches are considered. Numerical examples are also presented.
