A bounded sequence \((x_n)\) in a Banach space \(X\) is called \(\delta \)-separated if \(\|x_k - x_j \| \geq \delta \) for \(k\neq j\). \((x_n)\) is called K-equivalent to the \(l^1\) basis if \( K \sum_{i=1}^{n}|a_i| \leq \| \sum_ {i=1}^{n}a_i x_i \|\) for all \(n\) and finite scalars \(a_1,\dots,a_n\). A Banach lattice \(X\) has the strong Schur property if there exists \( K > 0 \) such that, for every \(\delta\) in \(( 0,2]\), every \(\delta \)-separated sequence in the unit ball contains a subsequence \(K\delta\)-equivalent to the \(l^1\)-basis. A Banach lattice \(E\) has the disjoint strong Schur property if there exists a number \(K > 0\) such that, for all \(\delta \) in \((0,2]\), every \(\delta\)-separated sequence in the unit ball of \(E\) consisting of positive pairwise disjoint elements contains a subsequence \(K\delta\)-equivalent to the standard \(l^1\) basis. In general, the disjoint strong Schur property is weaker than the strong Schur property. In the main result of the paper, the disjoint strong Schur property is shown to be equivalent to the strong Schur property in discrete Banach lattices.
