A Tychonoff space is \textit{weakly pseudocompact} in case it is \(G_{\delta}\)-dense in some of its compactifications [\textit{S. Garcia-Ferreira} and \textit{A. Garcia-Maynez}, ``On weakly-pseudocompact spaces'', Houston J. Math. 20, No. 1, 145--159 (1994; Zbl 0809.54012)]. In the present paper, the authors extend the notion of weak pseudocompactness to the setting of frames: a (completely regular) frame is \textit{weakly pseudocompact} if it has a compactification which is coz-codense (that is, the only cozero element mapped to the top is the top). This is a conservative extension of the spatial notion. Indeed, since a subspace \(A\) of a Tychonoff space \(X\) is \(G_{\delta}\)-dense in \(X\) precisely if the frame homomorphism \(\mathfrak{O}X\rightarrow \mathfrak{O}A\), given by \(U\mapsto U\cap A\), is coz-codense, then we have that if a Tychonoff space is weakly pseudocompact, then so is the frame of its open subsets; the converse can also be proved (using the Boolean Ultrafilter Theorem) and therefore a Tychonoff space is weakly pseudocompact if and only if the frame of its open subsets is weakly pseudocompact. The authors then present several internal characterizations of weakly pseudocompact frames (in terms of strong inclusions, uniformities and cozero bases) as well as some external characterizations. Most interestingly, none of the former is a translation of spatial characterizations that have appeared in the literature so far (they bear strong resemblance to certain characterizations of pseudocompact frames). The latter follow the lines of similar spatial characterizations appearing in [\textit{F. W. Eckertson} and \textit{H. Ohta}, ``Weak pseudocompactness and zero sets in pseudocompact spaces'', Houston J. Math. 22, No.~4, 737--748 (1996; Zbl 0876.54013)].
