    Let \(A\) and \(B\) be two uniform algebras on compact Hausdorff spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) respectively. For \(f \in A\), \(\sigma (f)\) and \( \sigma_{\pi} (f)\) will denote, respectively, the spectrum and the peripheral spectrum of \(f\). The set of all peaking functions in \(\exp A\) will be denoted by \(P_{\exp A}\), that is \(P_{\exp A}=\{ f \in \exp A: \sigma_\pi (f)=\{1 \} \}\). In the paper under review, the authors show that if \(T: A \to B\) is a surjective map satisfying \[ \sigma_{\pi} ((T (f))^m (T(g))^n ) \subseteq \sigma_{\pi} (f^m g^m) \] for some positive integers \(m,n\) and for all \(f, g \in A\), then there exists an isometrical algebra isomorphism \(T'\) from \(A\) onto \(B\) such that \( (T(f))^d= (T(1) T' (f))^d\) for every \(f \in A\), where \(d\) is de greatest common divisor of \(m\) and \(n\). Moreover, they show that \((T(1))^{m+n}=1\). It should be pointed out that the authors deal with more general maps. More precisely, they consider surjective maps \(T: A_1 \to B_1\) where \(A_1 \subseteq A\), \(B_1 \subseteq B\), \(P_{\exp A} \subseteq A_1\), \(P_{\exp B} \subseteq B_1\) and for all \(f, g \in A_1\) (resp. \(f, g \in B_1\)) with \(\| fg \| =1\), there exists \(h \in A_1\) (resp. \(h \in B_1\)) such that \(| h |= | fg|\) on \(\text{Ch} (A)\) (resp. \(\text{Ch} (B)\)). The study of spectrally multiplicative maps (\(\sigma (T (f) T(g))= \sigma (fg))\) was initiated in \textit{L. Molnár} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 130, 111--120 (2002; Zbl 0983.47024)]. Peripherally multiplicativity-preserving maps were studied in \textit{A. Luttman} and \textit{T. Tonev} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 135, 3589--3598 (2007; Zbl 1134.46030)].
