Compact differences of weighted composition operators on weighted Banach spaces of analytic functions (Q1030482)

Let \(\mathbb D\) be the open unit disk in the complex plane \(\mathbb C\) and \(H(\mathbb D)\) be the set of all holomorphic functions on \(\mathbb D\). Then \(\varphi, \psi \in H(\mathbb D)\) with \(\varphi(\mathbb D) \subset\mathbb D\) induce a linear weighted composition operator \[ C_{\varphi, \psi}: H(\mathbb D) \to H(\mathbb D); \quad f \mapsto \psi(f \circ \varphi). \] Moreover, let \(v\) be a bounded continuous and strictly positive function (weight) on \(\mathbb D\). Motivated by the work of \textit{T.\,Hosokawa, K.\,Izuchi} and \textit{S.\,Ohno} [Integral Equations Oper.\ Theory 53, No.\,4, 509--526 (2005; Zbl 1098.47025)], the author studies differences \(C_{\varphi_1, \psi_1} - C_{\varphi_2, \psi_2}\) of weighted composition operators acting on weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions \[ H_v^{\infty}:= \{ f \in H(\mathbb D); \| f\|_v:= \sup_{z \in\mathbb D} v(z) |f(z)| < \infty \} \] endowed with norm \(\|\cdot\|_v\). The author characterizes when such differences are compact or, equivalently, completely continuous in terms of the involved functions \(\varphi_1, \varphi_2, \psi_1, \psi_2\) as well as the involved weights. At this point, one should mention the already existing articles by \textit{P.\,J.\thinspace Nieminen} [Comput.\ Methods Funct.\ Theory 7, No.\,2, 325--344 (2007; Zbl 1146.47016)] in which compact differences of weighted composition operators are studied in case of the standard weights and by \textit{M.\,Lindström} and \textit{E.\,Wolf} [Monatsh.\ Math.\ 153, No.\,2, 133--143 (2008; Zbl 1146.47015)] in which the essential norm of such differences is investigated in the setting of more general weighted Banach spaces of holomorphic functions.
