The authors showed [arXiv: 0812.1705v2 (math-ph) 9 Jan 2009] that contractions of Lie algebras are in general not equivalent to generalized Inönü-Wigner contractions. The attempt of \textit{E. Weimar-Woods} [Rev. Math. Phys. 12, No. 11, 1505--1529 (2000; Zbl 1030.17002)] to prove this wrong statement failed since her Lemma 2.2 is wrong. But since this mistake obviously does not affect parts 2 and 3 of her proof and since part 1 trivially remains valid for diagonal contractions, the following result can be easily rescued: ``Every diagonal contraction is equivalent to a generalized Inönü-Wigner contraction with integer powers.'' For the authors this result is only ``indirectly claimed'' by E. Weimar-Woods so that they prove it once more in this paper. They prove the existence of the desired generalized Inönü-Wigner contraction whereas the original proof constructs it.
