Inelastic deformation processes are studied in the framework of thermodynamics. The state of material sample is treated as a sequence of constrained equilibrium states. The authors deal with kinetic rate laws in constrained state space and introduce the configuration space of generalized coordinates. Finally, sufficient conditions of the asymptotic stability of the thermodynamic system of a given material sample in constrained configuration space are established. These sufficient conditions impose some new restrictions on Rice's kinetic rate laws of internal variables, which can be used as criteria for bounded creep.
