The authors consider parabolic type operators corresponding to rotation invariant symbols (in space) which are inhomogeneous in space and time. A maximal regularity result for such operators is obtained, i.e., it is demonstrated that the operator induces an isomorphism between the inhomogeneous \(L^p\)-Sobolev spaces corresponding to the data and the solution of the equation. The result is obtained by extending the Newton polygon method. The description of the trace spaces related to the Newton polygon is the second main result of the paper. An application of the results to the Stefan problem is given
