A lemma of \textit{A. Braverman} and \textit{D. Kazhdan} [Nagoya Math. J. 184, 57-84 (2006; Zbl 1124.22006)] asserts that \[ G(k(\!(x)\!)(\!(t)\!))=G(k(\!(x)\!)[\![t]\!])G(k[\![x]\!](\!(t)\!)) \] where \(G\) is an arbitrary connected linear reductive group, \(k\) is a finite field, and \(k(\!(x)\!)\) and \(k[\![x]\!]\) are the field of Laurent and the ring of Taylor power series with coefficients in \(k\). The author gives an elementary proof in the case \(G=\text{GL}(n)\). Moreover, in this case a more general result is obtained where the ring \(k[\![t]\!]\) is replaced by an arbitrary Euclidean ring.
