On synchronization of oscillations of two coupled Berger plates with nonlinear interior damping (Q1035042)

A system of two elastically coupled Berger plates, with nonlinear interior damping is considered. Synchronization is proven, in two senses. For the case of identical plates, if the coupling coefficient is sufficiently large then the attractor of the system lies on the diagonal in the product space of the of the two systems, and coincides with the attractor of a single-plate problem. For the case of non-identical plates, the attractor converges to the attractor of an `average' single plate system as the coupling parameter goes to infinity.
