Every compact cusped hyperbolic \(3\)-manifold of finite volume has a canonical decomposition into ideal polyhedra. \textit{D. B. A. Epstein} and \textit{R. C. Penner} [J. Differ. Geom. 27, No. 1, 67--80 (1988; Zbl 0611.53036)] gave its precise definition in terms of convex hulls in Minkowski space \(\mathbb{R}^{3+1}\). The paper under review studies how the canonical decomposition of the hyperbolic manifold obtained by filling some of the cusps with solid tori changes from that of the original manifold. Under some genericity conditions, the main result claims that the canonical decomposition after Dehn filling can be predicted from that of the unfilled manifold. A similar result was announced by \textit{H. Akiyoshi} [pp. 121--132 in: RIMS Kokyuroku 1329, 181~p. (2003; Zbl 1043.30001)]. Also, the authors find the canonical decompositions of all hyperbolic Dehn fillings on one cusp of the Whitehead link complement.
