Let \(\Omega_{\mu}(n)=(1^{\mu}+1)(2^{\mu}+1) \cdots (n^{\mu}+1)\), where \(\mu\geq 2\) is an integer. \textit{J. Cilleruelo} [J. Number Theory 128, No. 8, 2488--2491 (2008; Zbl 1213.11057)] proved that \(\Omega_2(n)\) is a square only for \(n=3\). The authors prove that \(\Omega_{\mu}(3)\) is not squarefull, and hence not a square, for any positive integer \(n\). As the authors remark, the case \(\mu>3\) might require different ideas, and they show that an earlier attempt by other authors contains a gap.
