The authors derive error bounds for an iterative method used by Okamoto to prove the existence of strong solutions for the equations of nonhomogeneous incompressible fluids. The constant appearing in the error bounds in this paper depend on the time \(T>0\), where \([0,T]\) is the time interval where the existence of a solution is assured. Consequently, the bounds derived here are, in this sense, local in time. For Navier-Stokes type equations, additional assumptions have been used to obtain global in time estimates.
