Minimal surface of general type with \(p_{g}=1\) and \(q=0\) were firstly studied by \textit{F. Catanese} [in: Algebraic geometry, Proc. Summer Meet., Copenh. 1978, Lect. Notes Math. 732, 1--29 (1979; Zbl 0423.14019); Compos. Math. 41, 401--414 (1980; Zbl 0444.14008)] and by \textit{A. N. Todorov} [Ann. Sci. Éc. Norm. Supér. (4) 13, No. 1, 1--21 (1980; Zbl 0478.14030)]. A minimal surface of general type \(S\) with geometric genus \(p_{g}(S)=1\) and irregularity \(q(S)=0\) is called a Todorov surface if the bicanonical map factors through an involution \(i\) such that \(S/i\) is birational to a \(K3\) surface. The first examples of such surfaces was given by \textit{A. N. Todorov} [Invent. Math. 63, 287--304 (1981; Zbl 0457.14016)]. The main result of the paper under review is that, if \(P\) is the minimal smooth model of \(S/i\), then \(P\) is the minimal desingularization of a double cover of \(\mathbb{P}^{2}\) ramified over two cubics. Furthermore it is also shown that, given a Todorov surface \(S\), it is possible to construct a Todorov surface \(S_{j}\) with \(K_{S_{j}}^{2}=1, \cdots,K^{2}_{S}-1\) such that \(P\) is also the smooth minimal model of \(Sj/i_{j}\), where \(i_{j}\) is the involution of \(S_{j}\). Some examples are also given, included an example different from those given by Todorov in the second cited paper.
