The authors consider the fourth-order boundary value problem \[ u^{(4)}(t)+\eta u^{\prime \prime }(t)+\frac{\eta ^{2}}{4} u(t)=f(t,u(t)),\quad 0<t<1, \] \[ u(0)=u(1)=u''(0)=u''(1)=0, \] where \(f:[0,1]\times \mathbb{R}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\) is continuous, \(\eta \leq 0\) is a parameter, which may correspond to some applied problems in physics, namely the beam equation with simply supported ends. Using a suitable Green's function the author first transform the problem into some integral operator equation for which they obtain the existence of infinitely many mountain pass solutions by using variational methods and investigating a non-classical action functional. In their proofs, the authors combine the sub-sup solution method, Mountain pass theorem in order intervals, Leray-Schauder degree theory and Morse theory.
