It was known that the spectral radius of the Hadamard (entry-wise) product of two non-negative matrices A and B is submultiplicative, i.e., it is majorated by the product of the spectral radii of A and B . In 2009, Xingzhi Zhan came with an interesting conjecture that the spectral radius of the Hadamard product of non-negative matrices A and B is also majorated by the spectral radius of the conventional matrix product AB . The present author is the first who proved this conjecture. Another proof was obtained by \textit{R. A. Horn} and \textit{F. Zhang} [Electron. J. Linear Algebra 20, 90-94, electronic only (2010; Zbl 1191.15015)]. In both papers, interesting (and different) intermediate bounds are found.
