The Farrell-Jones fibered isomorphism conjecture (FIC) in \(L^{\langle-\infty\rangle}\) theory proposes that this can be computed for a given group \(\Gamma\) if it can be computed for its virtually cyclic subgroups and homological information. The author defines the following classes of groups: Let \(\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) be the smallest class of groups satisfying: {\parindent6mm \begin{itemize}\item[1)] \(\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) contains the cocompact discrete subgroups of linear Lie groups with finitely many components. \item[2)] If \(H<G\) and \(G\in \underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\), then \(H\in \underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\). \item[3)] If \(G_1, G_2\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) then \(G_1*G_2\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\). \item[4)] If \(\{ G_i\}_{i\in I}\) is a direct system of groups with \(G_i\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) then \(\lim_{i\in I}G_i\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\). \item[5)] Let \(1\to K\to G\to N\to 1\) be an exact sequence of groups with \(K,N\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) then \(G\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\). \end{itemize}} On the the other hand let \(\mathcal{FICWF}\) be the smallest class of groups satisfying: {\parindent6mm \begin{itemize}\item[a)] \(\mathcal{FICWF}\) contains the cocompact discrete subgroups of Lie groups with finitely many components. \item[b)] If \(H<G\) and \(G\in \mathcal{FICWF}\), then \(H\in \mathcal{FICWF}\). \item[c)] If \(G_1, G_2\in\mathcal{FICWF}\) then \(G_1*G_2\in\mathcal{FICWF}\). \item[d)] If \(\{ G_i\}_{i\in I}\) is a direct system of groups with \(G_i\in\underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) then \(\lim_{i\in I}G_i\in\mathcal{FICWF}\). \item[e)] If \(G_1, G_2\in\mathcal{FICWF}\) then \(G_1\times G_2\in\mathcal{FICWF}\). \item[f)] Let \(1\to K\to G\to N\to 1\) be an exact sequence of groups. If either \(K\) is virtually cyclic and \(N\in \mathcal{FICWF}\) or \(N\) is finite and \(K\in\mathcal{FICWF}\) then \(G\in\mathcal{FICWF}\). \end{itemize}} The author proves the following Theorem 1.1. Let \(F\) and \( K\) be finite groups and \(\mathbb{L^{\langle-\infty\rangle}}\) denote the \(L^{<-\infty>}\) theory spectrum. Then {\parindent7mm \begin{itemize}\item[[a.]] FIC holds for \(\mathbb{L^{\langle-\infty\rangle}}\), for any wreath product of the form \(\Gamma\wr K\) with \(\Gamma\in\mathcal{FICWF}\) and for the family of virtually cyclic subgroups of \(\Gamma\wr K\); \item[[b.]] FIC holds for \(\mathbb{L^{\langle-\infty\rangle}}\otimes \mathbb{Z}[\frac{1}{2}] \), for any wreath product of the form \(\Gamma\wr F\) with \(\Gamma\in \underline{\mathcal{FICWF}}\) and for the family of finite subgroups of \(\Gamma\wr F\). \end{itemize}} Moreover, the author proves that some important classes of groups such as full braid groups, free and virtually polycyclic groups (among others) belong to one of the families described above.
