A system of coupled discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equations is shown to possess a new class of solutions which are called interlaced solitons (in the one dimensional case) and interlaced vortices (in the two and three dimensional case). These solutions are found via continuation arguments from the anti-integrable limit and correspond to wave forms whose one component has support where the other component does not. Their stability properties are commented upon and a detailed numerical analysis of the system providing a clear picture of the dynamics is provided.
