This paper treats with elementary means a cluster of problems in three-dimensional Euclidean space that has been treated earlier in \(n\)-dimensional space by \textit{K. Menger} [Math. Ann. 100, 75--163 (1928; JFM 54.0622.02)], \textit{L. M. Blumenthal} [Theory and applications of distance geometry. Oxford: At the Clarendon Press (Geoffrey Cumberlege) (1953; Zbl 0050.38502) and Am. Math. Mon. 66, 453--460 (1959; Zbl 0092.39401)], \textit{F. Herzog} [Am. Math. Mon. 66, 460--464 (1959; Zbl 0092.39402)], and \textit{B.~V. Dekster} and \textit{J.~B. Wilker} [Arch. Math. 49, 351--366 (1987; Zbl 0608.52007)]: (i) When are six given lengths the edge lengths of some tetrahedron? (ii) When can all the sextuples with lengths in a given set \(S\) of positive numbers be the edge length of a tetrahedron? (if and only if \(S\subset [t, t\sqrt{2}]\) and \(S\) contains at most one endpoint of the interval \([t, t\sqrt{2}]\)) (iii) How many mutually non-isometric tetrahedra having six given edge lengths can be formed?
