The classical Schur's matrix is the \(N\times N\) matrix \(M=(\exp(2\pi imn/N))\) for \(1\leq m,n\leq N\). The eigenvalues of \(M\) were found by Carlitz and the eigenvectors by Morton. Here a polynomial version is considered. Pick a monic polynomial \(H\) of degree \(N\) over a finite field \(\mathbb F\). Pick polynomials \(f_1, \ldots , f_N\) with \(\deg f_i=i-1\). Then \(\mathcal M =(\exp(f_if_j/H))\), where \(\exp\) is the polynomial exponential map from the completion of \(\mathbb F[x]\) at infinity to \(\mathbb C^*\). The authors give explicit formulas for the determinant, eigenvalues, and their multiplicity and eigenvectors.
