Given a topological space \((X,\tau)\) with an ideal \(I\) on \(X\), a set operator \((\;)^*:P(X)\to P(X)\) is defined as follows (with the name local function of \(A \in P(X)\) with respect to \(\tau\) and \(I\)): for \(A\subset X\), \(A^*(I,\tau)=\{x\in X:U\cap A\notin I\;\text{for every}\;U \in \tau(x)\}\) where \(\tau(x)=\{U\in \tau:x\in U\}\); a Kuratowski closure operator \(\text{cl}^*(\;)\) for a toplogy \(\tau^*\) \((I,\tau)\), called the \({}^*\)-topology, finer than \(\tau\) is defined by \(\text{cl}^*(A)=A\cup A^*(I,\tau)\). A subset \(A\) of an ideal space \((X,\tau,I)\) is termed \(IR\)-closed if \(A-\text{cl}^*(\text{int}\,A)\) is; \(A\) is called an \(A_{IR}\)-set if \(A=G\cap F\) where \(G\) is open and \(F\) is \(IR\)-closed. The author discusses the properties of \(IR\)-closed sets and \(A_{IR}\)-sets; some characterization theorems for such sets are provided. Subsequently, the author defines the concept of \(I\)-submaximal spaces and discusses the properties of such spaces; a characterization theorem for \(I\)-submaximal spaces is provided.
