In the past decade, a lot of work has been done to find the weak solutions to the complex Monge-Ampère equation in hyperconvex domains for possibly broad classes of measures on the right hand side. This effort was successful as long as measures vanishing on pluripolar sets, are concerned due, mostly, to Cegrell. For measures charging pluripolar sets still very little is known. Partial results, for countable sets were obtained in [\textit{P. Lelong}, J. Math. Pures Appl., IX. Sér. 68, No.~3, 319--347 (1989; Zbl 0633.32019); \textit{A. Zeriahi}, Mich. Math. J. 44, No.~3, 579--596 (1997; Zbl 0899.31007) and \textit{Y. Xing}, Indiana Univ. Math. J. 48, No.~2, 749--765 (1999; Zbl 0934.32027)]. In the paper under review, the Dirichlet problem is studied in the class, denoted by \(\mathcal E\), which is the maximal domain of definition of the Monge-Ampère operator (found by Cegrell and characterized by Błocki). Cegrell introduced also a concept of generalized boundary values. Instead of prescribing (continuous) values on the boundary of a hyperconvex domain only some asymptotic behavior via a fixed plurisubharmonic function (not necessarily continuous along the boundary) is imposed. The main theorem of the paper is a far reaching generalization of the reviewer's theorem saying that, in the realm of bounded plurisubharmonc functions, the existence of a subsolution of the Monge-Ampère equation implies the existence of the solution. Here, it is proven for the class \(\mathcal E\) and the generalized boundary data. One of its interesting consequences is, that given a function \(u\) in Cegrell's class \(\mathcal F\), one can find two functions (\(\geq u\)) in the same class having its Monge-Ampère masses equal to the measure of \(u\) restricted to \(\{ u>-\infty \}\) and \(\{ u=-\infty \}\), respectively.
