Let \(X\) be a direct product of a finite number of complete locally compact ultrametric spaces endowed with a product measure \(\nu\). The set \(\mathfrak T(X)\) consists of all balls in \(X\) of nonzero diameter and all balls of zero diameter which are maximal subballs in balls of nonzero diameter. This set has the structure of a directed tree. The supremum \(\sup (x,y)\in \mathfrak T(X)\) of the points \(x,y\in X\) is defined as the minimal ball in \(X\) containing both points. The authors study ultrametric pseudodifferential operators \[ Tf(x)=\int \theta \big(\sup (x,y)\big)\big(f(x)-f(y)\big)\,d\nu (y),\quad x\in X, \] where \(\theta\) is a complex-valued function on \(\mathfrak T(X)\). If \(X\) is a product of local fields, then the above expression gives, in particular, a hypersingular integral representation of pseudodifferential operators of fractional type. In the above framework, the authors develop a theory of distributions and a kind of wavelet analysis, which they use to study the Cauchy problem for some ultrametric pseudodifferential equations.
