Two-periodic dynamics in finite extensions of the \(p\)-adic number field (Q1048437)

The author deals with discrete dynamical systems defined over a finite extension of the field of \(p\)-adic numbers. He focuses on dynamical systems of the kind \(h(x) = x + g(x)\), where \(g(x)\) is monic and irreducible polynomial with coefficients in the ring of \(p\)-adic integers. The nature of 2-periodic points of such a system is examined. The author determines the topological properties of these points and the nature of the smallest finite extension in which the periodic points reside.
