Top homology of hypergraph matching complexes, \(p\)-cycle complexes and Quillen complexes of symmetric groups. (Q1048941)

Let \(p\) be a prime, \(n\) be a natural number and \(S_n\) be the symmetric group of degree \(n\). The aim of this paper is to obtain information on the homology of the \(p\)-Quillen complex \(\Delta A_p(S_n)\). The method of the authors is to study the hypergraph matching complexes (as in the case \(p=2\), see \textit{S. Bouc}, [J. Algebra 150, No. 1, 158-186 (1992; Zbl 0786.55005)]). The authors conjecture, when \(n\equiv 1\bmod p\), an explicit formula for the representation of \(S_n\) on the top homology group of the corresponding hypergraph matching complex. They prove this conjecture for \(p\leq 3\) and \(\tfrac{n-1}{p}\leq 2\).
