Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field. The concept of derived tameness and derived wildness for finite dimensional \(k\)-algebras introduced by \textit{C. Geiss} and \textit{H. Krause} [in J. Algebra Appl. 1, No. 2, 133-157 (2002; Zbl 1034.16021)] is generalized to finitely generated (semi-perfect) \(k\)-algebras. (However, it is not clear whether tame-wild dichotomy holds in this setting.) The main result is a classification of derived tame local and two-point algebras. In particular, if \(A\) is a complete local \(k\)-algebra, then \(A\) is derived tame if and only if \(A\) is isomorphic to one of the following algebras: \(k\), \(k[x]/(x^2)\), \(k[\![x]\!]\), \(k[\![x,y]\!]/(xy)\) and \(k\langle\!\langle x,y\rangle\!\rangle/(x^2,y^2)\). Moreover, the first algebra is clearly derived-finite whereas the second and the third ones are derived-discrete, [see \textit{D. Vossieck}, J. Algebra 243, No. 1, 168-176 (2001; Zbl 1038.16010)]. The second main result classifies derived-tame two-point algebras. By this we mean the algebras \(A=\widehat{kQ/I}\), where \(Q\) is a finite quiver with two vertices, \(I\) is a two-sided ideal of the path \(k\)-algebra \(kQ\), we assume that \(I\subseteq J^2\), where \(J\) is the ideal of \(kQ\) generated by the arrows and \(\widehat{kQ/I}\) denotes the \(J\)-adic completion of \(kQ/I\).
