The notion of a connection matrix has been introduced in the Conley index theory in order to get information on the set of connecting orbits between elements of a Morse decomposition. The paper under review defines its algebraic refinement, called a detailed connection matrix, as a collection of certain subspaces of a filtered differential vector space. The main result states that for a given filtered differential vector space there exists a detailed connection matrix which induces, in some way, the spectral sequence of the space.
