\textit{R. Figueroa} [Math. Z. 181, 471-479 (1982; Zbl 0477.51009)] presented an interesting new class of projective planes of order \(q^ 3(q>2\), \(q\not\equiv 1 (mod 3))\) which admit a collineation group PSL(3,q) of \(PG(2,q^ 3)\). In view of its action these planes resemble very closely the Desarguesian planes of order \(q^ 3\). For instance, in both cases PSL(3,q) fixes a subplane of order q; elements which induce elations on the fixed subplane are elations. Moreover, in both types of planes stabilizers in PSL(3,q) of corresponding points, lines and flags are isomorphic. The author proves two theorems (by a series of lemmas) which show, to some degree, the converse is true. For example, one lemma is: ''If q is even there is a line g as the axis of elations with different centres. There is a point GIg as centre of an elation with an axis different from g.'' Its proof is the same as 3.4(b) in \textit{F. C. Piper} [J. Algebra 6, 256-269 (1967; Zbl 0161.403)].
