A base \({\mathcal B}\) of a quasivariety \({\mathfrak K}\) is called independent whenever no proper subset of \({\mathcal B}\) is a base of \({\mathfrak K}\). \(M_{3-3}\) denotes the smallest finite lattice having no finite base of quasiidentities. The paper answers the questions of V. A. Gorbunov and D. M. Smirnov whether an arbitrary finite lattice (the lattice \(M_{3-3})\) has an independent base of quasiidentities in the negative. The author presents conditions under which a locally finite quasivariety of lattices has no independent base of quasiidentities. Corollaries: \(M_{3-3}\) has no independent base of quasiidentities. Any finite lattice M can be embedded into a finite lattice L which has no independent base of quasiidentities. Moreover if M is modular, L can be chosen modular as well.
