The right Kertész radical \(K_ r(A)\) of a ring A is the ideal consisting of all elements \(x\in A\) for which xA is in the intersection of all maximal right ideals. It is proved that a right Kertész semisimple linearly compact ring has a right unity. It is shown that a strictly linearly compact ring need not split. Nevertheless, if A is strictly linearly compact with a right identity, then \(A/Cl(J(A)^ k)\), \(k=1,2,...\), as well as A/\(\cap Cl(J(A)^ k)\) are split where J denotes the Jacobson radical and Cl the closure operation. The author also expands his structure theorem on artinian rings [Arch. Math. 33, 546-553 (1980; Zbl 0428.16018)] to strictly linearly compact rings with an ideal basis filter, further, if A is a strictly linearly compact ring whose Jacobson radical is a linearly compact ring then A is the topological group direct sum of eAe, \(e^ 2=e\), and of a strictly linearly compact ideal B such that eAe is a complete direct sum of its infinite minimal idempotent right ideals and B/J(B) is a complete direct sum of finite minimal right ideals.
