We deduce an asymptotic system of equations describing the process of interaction of a sound wave with an irregularity on the surface of a body. A solution of the interaction problem is constructed. It is shown that at sound wave frequencies close to the frequency of the neutral oscillations of the boundary layer an undamped Tollmien-Schlichting wave propagates downstream of the irregularity.
