Gaseous absorption in a liquid (Q1059514)

With the help of the diffusion equation with nonlinear boundary condition the author models the absorption of gas by a liquid. The exact solution is obtained in an infinite series of parabolic cylinder functions. The existence, uniqueness and convergence of the series solution are established. The exact solution is also found. The analyticity of the two solutions is discussed finally. Later on the study is done for nonzero initial condition. For zero initial condition the present result agrees well with that of \textit{W. E. Olmstead} [Z. Angew. Math. Phys. 28, 513-523 (1977; Zbl 0363.45004)].
