Rivulet flow of a viscoelastic liquid (Q1060083)

The flow of a rivulet of a viscoelastic fluid down an inclined plane is considered. The fluid is assumed to be governed by a three-constant corotational form of a constitutive equation. An approximate solution is presented based on the assumption that the height of the rivulet is much smaller than the width. It is shown that the elasticity of the fluid causes a cross-sectional vortex flow, which is not present in the Newtonian case.
