\textit{N. L. Johnson} and \textit{F. W. Wilke} have introduced the concept of ''elusive set'' [Geom. Dedicata 15, 293-312 (1984; Zbl 0532.51005)] to represent a translation plane of order \(q^ 2\) that admits a collineation group of order \(q^ 2\) in the linear translation complement and whose kern contains GF(q). The authors determine explicitely all elusive sets for q even and show that to an elusive set it corresponds either a Betten plane or a Luneburg Tits plane or a certain plane of order \(8^ 2\), introduced by the authors and denoted by \(\pi\) (\({\mathcal N})\).
