The natural frequencies and mode shapes of a clamped circular plate with rectilinear orthotropy are determined by a modified application of the interior collocation method. In this version of the collocation method, the number of collocation stations is greater than the number of approximation functions. A least-squares error fit is then used to generate the governing eigenvalue problem. Overcollocation has the benefit of minimizing the effect of poor choice of collocation stations to allow for better results consistent with the number and quality of approximation functions employed. Parametric studies are presented to illustrate the effect of orthotropy on the natural vibration data of the clamped circular plate.
